Yes! The free tier includes basic budgeting, manual transaction entry, and limited AI messages. You can upgrade to Pro for unlimited bank connections, full tax tracking, and unlimited Stuart AI access.
How does Steward connect to my bank?
Steward uses Plaid, a trusted financial data platform used by thousands of apps. Your bank credentials are handled entirely by Plaid — they never touch our servers.
Is my financial data secure?
Absolutely. We use TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit and AES-256 at rest. Our infrastructure runs on SOC 2 Type II compliant platforms (Supabase & AWS). All data access is isolated with row-level security policies.
Can I use Steward on both my phone and computer?
Yes! Steward is available as a mobile app (iOS) and a web dashboard. Your data syncs automatically — sign in from either and see the same information.
How does the tax tracking work?
Steward's AI analyzes each transaction and identifies potential tax deductions, mapping them to IRS Schedule C categories. Deductions with confidence below 70% are flagged for your manual review. It's conservative by design to avoid overclaiming.
What is Safe to Spend?
Safe to Spend shows how much money you can spend before your next paycheck, after accounting for bills, savings goals, and what you've already spent this pay cycle. It's your real-time spending guide.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?
Yes. You can cancel anytime from your settings page. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.
Is Steward a replacement for an accountant?
No. Steward helps you track and organize your finances throughout the year, making tax time much easier. But we always recommend consulting a tax professional for complex situations. Stuart, our AI adviser, is not a licensed financial or tax professional.
