About Steward
Our Mission
Steward exists to make personal finance management accessible and effective for self-employed individuals and freelancers. We believe that managing your money shouldn't require a finance degree or an expensive accountant.
The Problem
Most budgeting apps are built for people with regular 9-to-5 paychecks. But if you're freelancing, running a small business, or working gig economy jobs, your income is irregular, your expenses are mixed between personal and business, and tax season is a nightmare.
Existing tools either oversimplify (just tracking spending) or overcomplicate (full accounting software). There's nothing in between that actually understands how self-employed people manage their money.
The Solution
Steward bridges that gap. It combines paycheck-based budgeting that adapts to irregular income, AI-powered categorization that learns your spending patterns, and a year-round tax engine that identifies deductions automatically.
And when you have questions, Stuart — your AI financial adviser — is there with direct, honest guidance tailored to your specific financial situation.
Built by Andrew Shpiruk
Hi, I'm Andrew — the founder of Steward. As a self-employed developer, I experienced firsthand how painful it is to manage finances without the right tools. I built Steward to solve the problems I was facing every day: tracking business expenses, estimating quarterly taxes, and understanding how much I could actually afford to spend.
Steward is the tool I wish existed when I started working for myself.
